Background:DES has drastically changed landscape for PCI in diabetic pts, with reductions in angiographic restenosis rates and need for repeat revascularization procedures.Whether different types of DES have similar efficacy in Asian population with diabetes is still controversial.Method:A total of 270 diabetic pts who underwent PCI with Sirolimus(SES group;n=135 pts,178lesions) or Paclitaxel(PES group;n=135pts,246 lesions)-eluting stents were enrolled.Angiographic and clinical outcomes at 6 months were evaluated.Result:Both group had similar baseline clinical and procedural characteristics. At 6 months,SES group showed less late loss and restenosis percent;however incidence of binary restenosis was not different between two groups.Despite difference in angiographic outcomes, clinical outcomes(death, Q-wave MI,TLR,TVR and MACE) were similar between two groups(Table). There was no incidence of acute, subacute and late stent thrombosis. Conclusion:Although SES has reduced late loss and restenosis percent compared with PES,these angiographic benefits was not translated into better clinical outcomes in diabetic pts.Long term follow up of this study population will be needed for final conclusion.
