Background:Insulin requiring DM may be a long-standing, complicated subset compared with oral-agent requiring DM and it is still unclear whether this clinical difference of DM may affect on the PCI outcomes in the DES era.Method:Total 319 DM pts who had a definite history of DM and underwent PCI were enrolled.According to pts���current treatment of DM, they were divided into insulin group(n=141 pts,223 lesions) and non-insulin group (oral hypoglycemic agent,n=178 pts,299 lesions).Angiographic and clinical outcomes at 6 months were evaluated.Result:Both groups had similar baseline characteristics except insulin group had higher levels of fast blood sugar(205.2짹88.2vs163.4짹64.3, p=0.001) and HbA1c(8.00짹1.5vs7.6짹1.4,p=0.03).At 6 months, although there was no difference in binary restenosis and late loss, angiographic % restenosis tend to be higher in insulin group.Although incidence of Q-wave MI and repeat PCI was similar between two groups,there were higher incidences of total death and MACE.Neither insulin nor non-insulin group had stent thrombosis (Table).Conclusion:Despite absence of difference in angiographic outcomes between two groups,insulin group showed higher incidences of total death and MACE.Meticulous blood sugar control and special cardiovascular care will be essential and critical for better outcomes of insulin-requiring DM pts.
