Background : The hottest ongoing debate in the interventional cardiology community has focused on the efficacy and safety of the different drug eluting stents(DES). However, most of the comparison studies were conducted in different individuals who have different risk factors which might influence on the results. The aim of this study is to compare late loss of the sirolimus eluting stents(SES) and paclitaxel eluting stents(PES) implanted to the same patients at the same time. Methods and Results : Sixty six patients treated with both SES and PES at the same time were enrolled to this study. Twenty six patients were obtained follow-up angiography in mean 11.5 짹 4.6 months after coronary stenting. There were no significant differences in lesion characteristics and stent diameter used. There were no acute coronary event during the follow up period but two patients underwent target vessel revascularization. There were no significant differences in late loss between the two stents ( 0.25 짹 0.39 in SES vs 0.19 짹 0.75 in PES, p = 0.715 ). Conclusion : Implantation of different types of DES to the same patients are presumed to be safe and effective. Our results demonstrate the comparable efficacy of both SES and PES in the same patients and these findings may extend the option in stent selection during coronary intervention.
