Objective: The left atrial volume (LAV) is an important prognostic factor in cardiovascular disease. However, in acute myocardial infarction (AMI), the factors affecting the changes in LAV index (��LAVi) has not been established yet. Methods: In one hundred eight subjects (M:F = 74:34; mean age, 62 짹 13 years) with AMI transthoracic echocardiogram was followed up at baseline and 20 months after AMI. The clinical and echocardiographic parameters related to ��LAVi were analysed. Results: The mean ��LAVi was 7.94 짹 9.10 mL/m2. ��LAVi is related to the history of hypertension (r=0.197, p=0.040), fasting blood glucose (FBG) at baseline (r=0.310, p=0.001), E-wave velocity at baseline (r=-0.209, p=0.030), the change of E/E��� (r=0.246, p=0.011) and the change of LVEF (��EF) (r=-0.214, p=0.026). Based on multivariate analysis, FBG, E wave velocity at baseline and ��EF were closely related to ��LAVi (Table). Conclusions: LA remodeling after AMI is related to clinical and hemodynamic parameters such as FBG, diastolic function and systolic function. Key words: change of LA volume index, LA remodeling, AMI,
